if anyone is following andrew’s twitter right now i just have to assure you he is completely serious about this and for once i don’t think he’s even...
First off, I can’t believe I’ve read a few thousands pages so far… Secondly, being that I’m that far in, I can’t believe not always sure what’s...
But instead im trolling and watching season 4 of true blood.
FML but this show is fucking crack right now …
How about this. The Homestuck crew has to live off of this comic and it’s revenue. They don’t want people making money off the designs without credit. The fans want to commission things that they can’t make themselves through artists.
How about there be a website where artists can sign up and sell their products, THROUGH WhatPumpkin. You sign up, list your items, and out of every purchase made, a certain percent goes to WhatPumpkin automatically and a certain percent goes to you. Sort of like the art prints in the WP store right now.
Since it would be automatic and user run, there would be no constant e-mails for permission. Sort of like buying a print off deviantART, or something off eBay, where they take a commission. WP wouldn’t have to worry about shipping or logistics, they could just make bank off their fan’s works.
So in the end WhatPumpkin could charge a commission for a percent of all items sold therefore not losing money on their designs, users could sign a terms of service saying they would only sell Homestuck merch there, the fandom could get the cosplay and plushie and art and jewelry commissions they so want, and artists could have a place where everyone could find them, thus expanding their network greatly and eventually getting them even more money.
Everyone wins.
OH MY GOD YES YES YES YES FUCK YES.
It’d be a lot of work, yes, and require legal drafting for things like people who attempt to scam (because I’ve been around long enough to know that this always happens in marketplaces), and it may require things like “you can’t sell certain things that are already being marketed by WP/Topatoco” but this would be WONDERFUL. With such a creative fanbase being inspired to make so much stuff… the great market of stuck-at-home could be the best thing online other than cat videos.
Signal boosting like a mofo; while the OP tagged halftruth and mspandrew… guys it’d be nice if you could try and get this idea around, because this is the single best solution I’ve seen yet to the problem of Homestuck fan merchandise.
I’M DOWN WITH THIS. LET’S DO IT RIGHT NOW. SIGNAL BOOST THE SHIT OUT OF THIS AND MAYBE SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN. SERIOUSLY. I WOULD LOVE TO DO THIS. I HAVE SO MANY IDEAS AND I’VE SEEN SO MANY THINGS FANS HAVE MADE THAT I WANT TO THROW MONEY AT. I THROW MONEY AT HUSSIE ALREADY, THIS WOULD JUST MAKE ME THROW MORE MONEY AT HIM.

This my friends is what is called compromise,...Ashley submit this idea.
was thinking. With individual logins
i’m kind of sleep right now, so let me clarify; it would pretty much work like etsy, user run (sort of) except WP would...
I think it’s a fantastic idea and I’d love to put something like this together, but it would require a lot of work and a...
A better idea, then, would be to submit items to a queue of sorts for approval. Once the item is approved, it is sent to...
Uhhhh, I am not opposed

I would absolutely throw my support behind something like this, yes yes yes.
It would be a pain to set up, but I would love something like this so I could make HS stuff without breakin’ the law :P
It does seem like a great idea, I to don’t know about copyright but it really sounds like it could work well you know))
