The Alan Titchmarsh Show - “video games promote hatred, violence and sexism”

The anger I feel about this subject made me feel the need to share. 

Why should the Games Industry be blamed and penalized because of negligent parents who are buying their 13 year old kid the latest 18 game for their birthday without reading the content? 
Alas as long as there are violent games and susceptible kids then the industry will always be blamed.

Thoughts on the matter?

I’m less than 2 minutes into this and I’m already pissed off.  ”You can’t stop kids from getting them.”  YES YOU FUCKING CAN, AS A PARENT YOU CAN SAY NO TO YOUR CHILD WHO IS A MINOR AND CAN’T BUY IT EVEN IF THEY HAD THE MONEY.  GAMES HAVE RATINGS FOR A FUCKING REASON.  JUST LIKE CDs AND MOVIES.  WHICH PARENTS ALSO IGNORE THE RATINGS ON THOSE AND TAKE THEM HOME TO THEIR CHILDREN.  THEN THEY COMPLAIN ABOUT THE FUCKING CONTENT THE ARTIST PUT INTO WHATEVER AFTER  THEY SHELLED OUT THE MONEY WITHOUT PAYING ATTENTION TO WHAT THE BLOODY HELL THEY WERE BUYING.

NOW FOR MY REACTION TO THE FIRST FEW SENTENCES THE BLONDE WENCH SAID.  No, movies are just as interactive as video games nowadays, look at blue ray.  You can get just as emotionally invested in movies as you can get with video games, look at the people who attempted/committed suicide over “Avatar”.   Video games are addictive if you let them be addictive.  How is this any different than being addicted to substances or cutting yourself or being an adrenaline junkie?  ITS FUCKING NOT.  Everyone has to have a way to release their violent tendencies without actually hurting someone, some people go to the gym, others play “Halo”.  I can’t believe this bitch is blaming video games for making children violent.  I beg to differ, I grew up when video games were mostly on the back burner, only rich people could get them where I lived (or older kids who had their own jobs).  I had more violent children in any given elementary school class than I can remember and as far as I know, they played outside, watch wrestling and hardly EVER got the chance to play a video game (most of the violent ones were boys, but I’m not excluding the girls either)

Now Captain Old Guy does have a point about how violence in video games has escalated over the last decade but what does this have to do with the issue at hand?  NOTHING.  They’re talking about how children are getting a hold of these games because of their retarded ass parents not learning how to fucking read.  And the video game guy is completely correct about movies.  Movies have been violent for far longer than video games have even been around.  There were parents who took their children to see the recent “Watchmen” movie.  You know, the one where FUCKING RORSCHACH USES A MEAT CLEAVER ON A GUY’S HEAD?  YEAH, THAT ONE.  5-6 YEAR OLD KIDS IN THE MOVIE THEATER.  WHAT THE FUCK AMERICA.  I like how the video game guy brings up literature.  Look at things like Edgar Allen Poe and all of the dark twisted and violent things he’s written just for example!  Yet children read these stories by him IN SCHOOL.

Well Blonde bitch, you can be against violence for entertainment all you fucking want.  THAT IS NOT THE GODDAMN ISSUE YOU’RE THERE TO DISCUSS.  WHY HAVEN’T YOU SAID ANYTHING ABOUT HOW STUPID THE PARENTS ARE FOR BUYING THE GAMES FOR MINORS?!

That whole program was a giant load of bullocks.  Entirely.  The only one who actually discussed the issue was the video game buy.  The old guy at least was somewhat on the discussion topic.  That blonde bitch though…. WHAT THE FUCK IS HER PROBLEM.  SERIOUSLY.
