if anyone is following andrew’s twitter right now i just have to assure you he is completely serious about this and for once i don’t think he’s even...
First off, I can’t believe I’ve read a few thousands pages so far… Secondly, being that I’m that far in, I can’t believe not always sure what’s...
But instead im trolling and watching season 4 of true blood.
FML but this show is fucking crack right now …
DEAR WORLD, Internet service providers will begin spying on you!
This is not just the USA, this is also Europe, UK, Canada, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and more.
ACTA is another attempt by Hollywood and others to end privacy and freedom to protect their profits.
These well done videos provide an overview:
We got to stop this!
Europe, contact your representatives.
USA, reblog this post. Make new posts. Join the EFF. Stay involved.
They won’t give up, and neither will we.
I’m going to keep spamming ACTA posts. It’s just so important. I can’t even…
((sorry to post something offtopic here, especially since I haven’t been doing answers in a while, but I consider this to be important and hope you will both help spread information and act against acta)
Just because SOPA/PIPA are gone FOR THE MOMENT, doesn’t mean we should stop giving a shit. SERIOUSLY PEOPLE.

This is a petition on the Directgov website - this goes straight through to parliment and at the current time of posting it only has 21 signatures
I know a lot of people are reblogging the one sponsored by anonymous which is great but if you live in the UK, this is going to be your best best at getting yourself heard about ACTA - even if you don’t live in the UK or even the EU, PLEASE REBLOG THIS, as ACTA is something that not only affects Europe but the rest of the world as well and this could be one of the only opportunities for it to be downturned
ACTA is one more offensive against the sharing of culture on the Internet. ACTA (Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement) is an agreement secretly negotiated by a small “club” of like-minded countries (39 countries, including the 27 of the European Union, the United States, Japan, etc). Negotiated instead of being democratically debated, ACTA bypasses parliaments and international organizations to dictate a repressive logic dictated by the entertainment industries. ACTA would impose new criminal sanctions forcing Internet actors to monitor and censor online communications. It is thus a major threat to freedom of expression online and creates legal uncertainty for Internet companies. In the name of trademarks and patents, it would also hamper access to generic medicines in poor countries. Stop ACTA from ruining Free Speech NOW! For more information, visit http://www.laquadrature.net/ACTA or watchhttp://youtu.be/citzRjwk-sQ
Wow, please notice that bold part in the last paragraph. That is not okay.
It’s got less than 2k signatures right now guys. Let’s get this FILLED.
WHY IS THAT SO LOW?!
When ACTA passes next week ALL people from the EU will have monitoring internet!
So please signs the petition even if you’re not from the EU!
move your ass citizen of the earth. Please
It’s up to 5000-something now.
It is up to 11,060 as of my signature. THIS NEEDS MORE SIGNATURES PEOPLE. STOP THE MADNESS.
this is so absurd that i honestly thought it was a joke until i clicked the link to find out that people in our government are reallythat stupid
are you fucking kidding me
it’s like 1984 or something jeez
Oh my god. The internet war is just starting. Kids, we’ve only won the first battle. This is going to be a very, VERY long war. If we don’t want this to turn into an Orwellian 1984 world, we need to be vigilante and keep fighting. Goddamn do politics suck.

You can read SOPA here: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/F?c112:1:./temp/~c112Ctt3ds:e1014:
You can read both versions of PIPA here: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c112:S.968:
And for further research, for the first time, I am going to seriously recommend you read the wikipedia pages for both of these bills. Wikipedia is taking this very seriously as they have demonstrated with their blackout. Not to mention the pages have some really great source links for researching.
PIPA and SOPA aren’t necessarily out to shut down sites like this here tumblr but if someone were to start going crazy with it (and in America that NEVER HAPPENS. NEVER.) it really COULD start a problem.
I appreciate the sentiment of PIPA/SOPA and wanting to protect copyrights. Fine. But there are a lot of gray areas and fine lines here on the internet. Policing the internet PROPERLY would basically be impossible.
Thanks to the hard work of the FBI, big scary threat to national security Megaupload has been taken down, and we can all rest easier tonight!
In other news, I still can’t get married, global warming is slowly starting to spiral out of control, the US continues its…
This Is Important, You Should Watch It of the Day: Salman Khan offers the most succinct and straightforward rundown of how the language in SOPA’s current iteration leaves wide open the possibility that, despite its ostensible intention to block foreign sites trafficking in pirated content, completely legal websites operating inside the United States could easily be labeled “enablers” of “U.S. property theft” and subjected to crippling sanctions that would effectively shut them down.
(Worried? Do something.)
[khanacademy.]
This is completely terrifying. If SOPA/PIPA pass, what’s to say something more substantial won’t in the future? Where does the line get drawn? I say here and now. Watch this video. Take a stand. This is EVERYONE’S problem right now and it isn’t a MINOR problem. Sign every petition you can and fax/call/email/bombard your senators and representatives. We can kill it.

Here’s a tip for the do-it-yourself crowd:
Go to your computer’s Start menu, and either go to
“run” or just search for “cmd.”
Open it up, and type in “ping [website address],”
Once you have the IP for a website, all you really
need to do is enter it like you would
a normal URL nd hit enter/press go. Typing in
“208.85.240.231”
should bring you to the front page of AO3,
for example, just as typing “174.121.194.34/dashboard”
should bring you straight to your Tumblr dashboard.
Since we’re obviously bracing for the worst case scenario
which would involve you not being
able to access the internet regularly, you should,
save this list.Dear Tumblr-ers, -ites, ettes, and whatever other things you may prefer,
Please reblog the crap out of this. Add to it if you feel there is stuff necessary but missing.
P.S. Thank you to the lovely who wrote this up.
This. Keep this handy folks. We might need it!
